UH pitcher Wright signs with Indians

University of Hawai'i junior righthander Steven Wright, a second-round draft pick by Cleveland earlier this month, has signed with the Indians organization.Wright, who was 11-2 with an 2.30 earned-run average this past season, was the Western Athletic Conference Pitcher of the Year. He also was named to the National Baseball Foundation and Baseball America and Louisville Slugger All-America teams.
The Moreno Valley, Calif., native was UH's first 10-game winner since 1996. He recorded 123 strikeouts with just 19 walks in 109.2 innings pitched.
