TONIGHT'S MUST-SEE

"How I Met Your Mother," 7:30 p.m., CBS. On the right weeks, this first-season show has been just shy of hilarious. Here's a rerun of one such episode. Ted goes to a matchmaker (Camryn Manheim). She's immensely unhelpful.

"How Art Made the World: The Day Pictures Were Born," 10 p.m., PBS. In the late 19th century, ancient cave paintings were discovered. Similar work was eventually found around the world, perplexing scholars. Fortunately some relatively recent paintings are from a nomadic tribe, the San, which still clings to its old ways. Visiting the San in Namibia, this interesting hour learns more about man's first artistic urges.

OF NOTE

"The Wizard of Oz" (1939), 2 p.m., Turner Classic Movies. Fresh from a "Gone With the Wind" weekend, this channel reminds us that it's the classics' place.

"The Closer," 6 p.m., TNT. Brenda is dealing with her 40th birthday and with the case of a young woman killed at a classy restaurant. The suspects include an ambitious chef and his wife, an unprincipled investor.

"Mr. Deeds" (2002), 7 p.m., Fox. Someone inexplicably felt it was important to remake Frank Capra's "Mr. Deeds Goes to Town," with Adam Sandler as a simple guy who gets rich. Critics and audiences disliked the idea.

"Treasure Hunters," 7 and 8 p.m., NBC. First is a rerun of last week's episode. Then the eight surviving teams ponder new clues.

"Saved," 7 p.m., TNT. Why would anyone learn poker from Wyatt Cole (Tom Everett Scott), a man drowning in gambling debts? Tonight, Sack (Omari Hardwick) tries with tough results. These two EMT's also have rescues, including a young beauty-pageant contestant and a guy who is stuck in his crane while experiencing chest pains.

"Kyle XY," 8 p.m., ABC Family. Last week's likable debut saw the family adjusting to the fact that Kyle — a teen-looking chap with no discernible roots — was staying with them. Still, they were creeped out by the fact that he never sleeps. Tonight, he tries to.

"Two and a Half Men," 8 p.m., CBS. Charlie plans a special night for the beautiful and classy Mia; meanwhile, Alan has his own date, who's too young and ditzy.

"Falcon Beach," 9 p.m., ABC Family. When Paige decides to rent a boat for Jason to use, the others fear that they're romance is back. Also, Erin is trying to live down her "Party Girl" performance.

"Medium," 9 p.m., NBC. Allison is having paranoid delusions, after being asked to find a friend's brother. Meanwhile, her daughter may be communicating with the dead author of her favorite book.
