Bar set high for Isle youths

Advertiser Staff

Hawai'i had a banner youth baseball season last year.

Six Hawai'i teams reached the World Series last July and August, and two of those teams won World Series titles. The six O'ahu teams were believed to be the most Hawai'i teams to reach the World Series in one season.

All had to win state tournaments, then a regional tournament to reach the World Series.

Two — Cal Ripken's 12-under and West O'ahu's Little League 11-12 — won World Series titles. Three others — Mililani PONY 13, Babe Ruth 13-15 and Little League 15-16 — lost in the final. Another — Little League 13-14 — lost in the semifinals.
