Man killed in early-morning crash identified

Advertiser Staff

A man who was killed in a single-car accident early this morning was identified as Havons Ludwig, 34, of Honolulu, according to the City Medical Examiner's office. Ludwig was fatally injured and two other men in the car were reported to be in serious condition after the car they were driving in hit a tree on Farrington Highway near Waipahu High School about 12:55 a.m. this morning.

Ludwig was a passenger in the car.

Bryan Cheplic, spokesman for the city Department of Emergency Services, said a backseat passenger in the car, Ludwig, was listed in critical condition upon his arrival at The Queen's Medical Center and later died there.

He said the driver and a front seat passenger arrived at Queen's in serious condition. Police said speed and alcohol appear to be factors in the crash.
