The July 5, 1898, Pacific Commercial Advertiser gave a glowing account of the OR&L train ride to Waialua. The track went around Ka'ena Point.

1921: Wallace Rider Farrington is inaugurated as the sixth governor of the territory of Hawai'i on the steps of 'Iolani Palace.

1929: Lawrence Judd is inaugurated as governor of the territory of Hawai'i.

1935: The Kapi'olani Boulevard extension between McCully and Harding opens.

1946: Matson Navigation Co. discloses plans to build a group of stores and offices along the Kalakaua Avenue perimeter of the Royal Hawaiian Hotel grounds..
