Boy, 15, dies after falling 80 feet into dry river bed

Advertiser Staff

A 15-year-old boy died after falling at least 80 feet into a dry river bed from atop Wikao Street near Mililani Tech Park.

The boy was pronounced dead at about 2:50 p.m., said Bryan Cheplic, a spokesman with the city's Emergency Services Department.

Fire rescue personnel were dispatched to the scene shortly before 2 p.m. and the boy was found in extremely critical condition, said HFD Capt. Kenison Tejada.

The boy may have been playing near a construction site along the ridge before falling 80 to 100 feet into the stream, Cheplic said.
