Maui median home price hits $758,000 in June

By Andrew Gomes
Advertiser Staff Writer

Prices for previously owned single-family homes sold on Maui rose to just short of a record median in June, as sales declined by almost half compared with a year ago.

The median price for single-family homes sold last month was $758,000, which was up from $727,500 a year earlier and $729,000 in May. The record was set in May 2005 at $780,000.

Condominiums sold for a record median of $675,000, up from $387,500 a year earlier and $599,500 in May.

The number of sales, however, was drastically lower for both condos and single-family homes. There were 82 single-family home sales in June, a 44 percent drop from 146 sales a year earlier. There were 101 condo sales, a 48 percent drop from 194 a year earlier.
