POINTER SISTERS ON THE EVE

Is it too early to think about New Year's Eve festivities? Heck, no. At the Hilton Hawaiian Village, the Pointer Sisters will ring in the new year with their own brand of multiple Grammy Award-winning pop. Among their many hits are "Jump (For My Love)," "I'm So Excited" and "He's So Shy."

Tickets will be $90 general, $120 silver seating, $170 gold and $200 platinum — and include the pre-show, a standard cocktail and half a bottle of sparkling wine. 947-7877.

'KA HIMENI ANA' AUG. 12

Mark your calendars, oh lovers of traditional Island music: "Ka Himeni Ana," the annual concert of unamplified, old-fashioned singing, takes place at 7:30 p.m. Aug. 12 at the Hawai'i Theatre.

A pre-show, beginning at 7 p.m., features Mahi Beamer. Marlene Sai will be the emcee and the concert also features 2006 Na Hoku Hanohano group of the year Holunape. Tickets — $6, $10, $15, $20, $25 and $30 — go on sale July 15. 528-0506, www.hawaiitheatre.com.
