Here's how to deal with stress

"Managing Corporate Stress," two free 2 1/2-hour workshops for staff and volunteers of faith and community-based organizations, will be offered on two islands, led by Archibald Hart, professor of psychology and dean emeritus of the Graduate School of Psychology at Fuller Theological Seminary. Times and locations are:

  • 9 a.m., July 17, at Pacific Beach Hotel, 2490 Kalakaua Ave.

  • 1 p.m., July 18, at 79-7381 Mamalahoa Highway, Kealakekua, on the Big Island.

    Workshops will help leaders and staff deal with the stress inherent in community and social service organizations; tips will be given for identifying, addressing, preventing and even capitalizing on different kinds of stress.

    Hart is author of "Adrenaline and Stress: The Exciting New Breakthrough That Helps You Overcome Stress Damage" and "The Anxiety Cure."

    RENOVATED CHURCH CELEBRATION SLATED

    St. Joseph Church, the Catholic church at 94-675 Farrington Highway in Waipahu with one of the largest congregations in the state, is celebrating the reopening of its church building at 9:30 a.m. July 15.

    During the renovation, the congregation met under tents and even in a makeshift sanctuary in the parking lot. The renovated building will hold up to 750 people.

    Events include a church dedication Mass at 10 a.m. with Bishop Larry Silva; lunch and entertainment will follow. The celebration of the newly refurbished church ends at 2 p.m.
