Kono in 4th, six shots back

Stephanie Kono moved into a tie for fourth, but fell six shots off the lead, while Tadd Fujikawa dropped into a tie for 14th, eight strokes behind the leader after three rounds of the AJGA Rolex Tournament of Champions at the Hiwan Golf Club in Evergreen, Colo.

Kono, who will be a junior at Punahou, shot a 2-over 72 for 217 and trails leader Ashleigh Simon of South Africa at 70—211.

Fujikawa, a sophomore-to-be at Moanalua, shot a 4-over 74 for 216. Phillips Francis of Arizona shot 72 for 208.

MANOA CUP DEADLINE

Tomorrow is the entry deadline for the 98th Manoa Cup. The Hawai'i State Amateur match play championship will be played July 24 to 29 at Oahu Country Club.

University of Hawai'i golfer Travis Toyama is the defending champion.

HILO EAST WINS TITLE

Hilo East advanced to the Pacific Southwest Regional in Woodland, Calif., with a 25-0 victory over Ewa Storm yesterday in the final of the 2006 Cal Ripken 12 & under State Championship at Walter Victor Stadium in Hilo.

FUKUDA, EASTON WIN

Dustin Fukuda and Sandie Easton took top overall honors yesterday in the Surf & Sea Cup Swim at Hale'iwa Beach, the second of four races in the North Shore Swim Series.

Fukuda won the men's division, completing the 1.2-mile course in 23 minutes, 53.2 seconds, while Easton took the women's division in 25:51.9.
