Man pulled from Kewalo Basin dies

A man who was pulled from the water outside of Kewalo Basin today by an off-duty firefighter died at Straub Clinic & Hospital, according to city Department of Emergency Services spokesman Bryan Cheplic.Police said a witness saw the man fishing near the beach and knocked into the water by a wave.
The case is being classified as an unattended death pending an autopsy.
