Crash victim identified as 49-year-old Kailua man

The city Department of the Medical Examiner has identified Roy Jimenez, 49, of Kailua, as the driver who was killed in a head-on crash yesterday near Wahiawa.Police vehicular homicide investigators said Jimenez was heading south on Wilikina Drive near Kamananui Road in a 1995 Nissan pickup truck when a 2003 Ford tow truck headed in the opposite direction veered across the center line about 5 p.m. and collided with the smaller truck.
Jimenez was taken to Wahiawa General Hospital in critical condition and died there a short time later.
The tow truck driver, 41, of Honolulu, was also taken to the hospital after complaining of back pain, police said.
They said alcohol does not appear to be a factor in the case, but speed may have played a role in the crash.
