UH's Sensley to join German national team

Former University of Hawai'i basketball standout Julian Sensley has left the Golden State Warriors' summer league team to train with the German national team.

Sensley was a free agent on the Warriors' summer league team in the Toshiba Vegas Summer League. He appeared in two games, recording 11 points, 1 rebound and 1 assist in 22 minutes off the bench.

"I would have stayed but the coaches from the German team called and said they needed me there by Thursday, and I already made a commitment to them that I would be there," said Sensley, a 6-foot-9 forward.

Sensley was raised in Kailua, but is eligible for the German national team because his mother has German citizenship.

Sensley returned to Honolulu from Las Vegas on Sunday, and said he will depart for Europe on Wednesday.
