Triple-murder victims were killed 'execution style'

A 23-year-old man was indicted by the O'ahu grand jury this morning on charges that city prosecutors say involved a "mass murder" at the Tantalus lookout last week of three victims who appeared to have been executed with shots to the head.

Adam Mau-Goffredo was indicted on 18 felony counts related to the slayings and the home invasion robbery of three other victims at a Round Top Drive home Thursday night.

The charges include first-degree murder, which carries a mandatory life term without parole, the state's harshest prison sentence.

Other charges include second-degree murder, firearm charges, first-degree robbery, first-degree theft and kidnapping.

Mau-Goffredo is being held at O'ahu Community Correctional Center on $25 million bail.

But at the request of city Prosecutor Peter Carlisle, Circuit Judge Derrick Chan approved holding Mau-Goffredo without bail until a hearing on whether bail should be issued in the case.

Carlisle told the judge the charges involve a "mass murder." He also said it appears that the three were killed "execution style."

Carlisle said he will be handling the prosecution.

The indictment was returned after a confidential grand jury session.

The three people shot to death were taxi driver Manh Nguyen and a married couple, Jason and Colleen Takamori.
