'MOVIN' OUT' IN SEPTEMBER

Tickets go on sale Saturday for "Movin' Out," the Tony Award-winning Broadway production that pairs Twyla Tharp dance moves with Billy Joel tunes. The show will be staged Sept. 8-17 at the Blaisdell Concert Hall.

Considered a "jukebox musical" because it collects 24 Joel tunes, "Movin' Out" essentially is a dance production with theatrical flourish. It spans two decades, monitoring post-World War II idealism against the uncertainty of the war in Vietnam, and advances a story told through dance. The dancers don't speak; a house band performs the Joel signatures.

Joel won a Tony for best orchestration; Twarp's choreography also earned a Tony.

The Hawai'i run, presented by Broadway Across America, is part of an international tour that moves to Japan after playdates here.

Performances will be at 8 p.m. Fridays, 2 and 8 p.m. Saturdays, 2 and 7 p.m. Sundays, and 7:30 p.m. Tuesdays through Thursdays.

Tickets are $35, $55 and $70 for Tuesday-Thursday shows and Sunday evenings; $45, $65 and $80 for all other performances; available at the box office and at Ticketmaster locations. (877) 750-4400 or go to www.ticketmaster.com.
