SOCCER

CHING'S GOAL HELPS IGNITE DYNAMO

Hawai'i's Brian Ching scored the deciding goal as the Houston Dynamo defeated the host Kansas City Wizards, 3-2, last night in a Major League Soccer game.

Ching, a Kamehameha Schools graduate from Hale'iwa, scored in the 66th minute when he took a pass at the top of the Kansas City penalty area from Alejandro Moreno, turned Wizards defender Tyson Wahl to his left and fired a shot from 16 yards that easily beat goalkeeper Bo Oshoniyi.

The score would prove pivotal when Jimmy Conrad headed in a corner kick in the 87th minute, pulling Kansas City within 3-2.
