Police Beat: Man arrested for alleged sexual assault

Police are investigating a complaint filed by a 20-year-old woman who reported being sexually assaulted sometime between 1:30 and 3:30 Saturday morning at the home of a 25-year-old man in Kailua.

Police said the woman who filed the complaint and the suspect are acquaintances of common friends.

After filing the report, the woman positively identified the suspect, police said.

Police arrested the man, who lives on Keolu Drive, on suspicion of first-degree sexual assault.

Suspect arrested for alleged abuse of household member

A 25-year-old Mililani man was arrested yesterday after a 25-year-old woman who lives at the same home told police the man held her against her will for several hours and physically abused her.

The woman told police she was arguing with the man prior to 7:45 a.m. when he assaulted her and kept her from leaving.

Police said the woman finally managed to escape when she ran to a neighbor's apartment and called 911.

Police arrested the man on suspicion of kidnapping and abuse of a family or household member.

Brushfire set after domestic dispute is extinguished

Police arrested a 51-year-old woman early yesterday morning in the Wai'anae area after she allegedly set fire to the brush behind a home belonging to a 55-year-old man.

Police were called to the home on Farrington Highway about 3:40 a.m. and were told the man and woman were having a domestic argument, during which the woman set a piece of cardboard on fire, walked to the back of the property and set fire to the brush behind the home.

Police and firefighters were called to the home. The fire was quickly extinguished and the man restrained the woman he had been arguing with until police arrived to arrest her on suspicion of second-degree criminal property damage.
