Police Beat: Unprovoked attack leads to arrest

Advertiser Staff

Police arrested a 30-year-old man in Kalihi yesterday morning after he allegedly knocked a 56-year-old man to the ground for no apparent reason.

Police said the two men approached each other from opposite directions about 9:50 a.m. when the younger man shoved the other man causing him to fall to the ground, resulting in a deep cut to his head.

A witness who saw what happened followed the younger man as he walked away from the incident, police said.

They arrived at the scene and were told that the shove was completely unprovoked and that the injured man did not know the man who pushed him.

The younger man was arrested at an address fronting Hart Street on suspicion of third-degree assault while the injured man was taken to Saint Francis Hospital in serious condition.

Wife arrested for breaking husband's wrist with massage tool

A 44-year-old Makiki woman was arrested yesterday in connection with an incident late Sunday night in which her husband's wrist was broken after he was struck with a rolling-pin-like massage implement.

The husband, 38, told police he had been arguing with his wife when she hit him in the wrist with the massage tool.

Police said the man later went to a hospital to have his wrist treated and found out it was broken.

Hospital workers then notified police, who arrested the wife on suspicion of second-degree assault when she arrived at the hospital.
