BOOK TALK

LITERARY LIFESAVER

"Use This Book! The Only Book You'll Ever Need," from Quirk Books Co., is a grab bag of ostensibly useful stuff: an acupuncture diagram chart, an award certificate, a set of cut-out bookmarks, a grid for measuring things, a disposable folding drinking cup, an instruction card for changing a flat tire, a guide to the Heimlich maneuver, ... and so on. The press release calls the $16.95 paperback "the Swiss Army knife of books."

FINAL WORD

"It's not like 'Big Brother,' where they all have sex with each other and show their boobs ... the designers should show their talent."
