The July 18, 1860, Pacific Commercial Advertiser printed King Kamehameha IV's speech at the laying of the cornerstone for Queen's Hospital.

1889: The Pacific Commercial Advertiser reports on efforts to improve Punchbowl Hill, "a brown unattractive old crater overlooking the town."

1917: A war-training camp is ordered for Hawai'i.

1979: Hawai'i police officers return to work under court order, but they still have no contract. Negotiations continue with the federal mediator involved.
