Blaisdell Center adds valet parking

By Wayne Harada
Advertiser Staff Writer

Blaisdell Center is adding valet parking service, starting with tonight's performance of Hawaii Opera Theatre's "The King and I" at the Concert Hall. It's a move meant to streamline traffic and shorten the time spent searching for parking.

The valet service is a trial run. Tickets can be bought in advance at the Blaisdell box office or Ticketmaster locations. If space is available, drive-by patrons also may drop off their vehicles and pay the valet. The service will be available an hour before showtime.

"We've sold some tickets and have started advertising the service," said John C. Fuhrmann, events and services manager at Blaisdell Center.

Cost is $20 per vehicle and as many as 200 cars can be accommodated, Fuhrmann said.

For Concert Hall events, the drop-off and pick-up area will be at the Ward Avenue driveway between the Concert Hall and the Exhibition Hall; for Arena events, the drop-off will be in space off Ward Avenue, normally used as parking for box office sales.

Valet users will exit from these lots, bypassing the usual exits at King Street and Kapi'olani Boulevard. Elite Services has been contracted to park the cars.
