Hirono remains in fundraising lead

Advertiser Staff

Official campaign finance reports for the 2nd Congressional Democratic primary filed since last Saturday's deadline still show former Lt. Gov. Mazie Hirono as the top overall fundraiser, while state Rep. Brian Schatz led fundraising efforts for the quarter ending July 30.

Candidates whose official finance reports were not included by The Advertiser in last Saturday's article include:

  • State Sen. Gary Hooser, who raised $81,000 for the quarter and $179,000 overall.

  • Former state Sen. Matt Ma-tsunaga, who raised $79,000 for the quarter and $80,000 overall.

  • State Rep. Nestor Garcia, whose first quarterly report of $44,000 is also his overall total.

In the Republican primary, state Sen. Bob Hogue reported his fundraising for the quarter at $24,000 and $31,000 overall, compared with his challenger, former state Rep. Quentin Kawananakoa, who raised $325,000 for the quarter and $378,000 overall.

State Sen. Ron Menor's campaign said he will file an amended report. A letter to the commission shared with The Advertiser says his bank deposits for the quarter are $48,000.
