New details released on Pearl City stabbing

Ronante G. Aquino was intoxicated when he allegedly stabbed his girlfriend to death in her Pearl City apartment, according to court documents released today.

Aquino, being held on $150,000 bail, was arrested on suspicion of second-degree murder in connection with the death of Zenaida Dumaslan, 39.

Police found Dumaslan "stabbed numerous times" according to the documents filed by city prosecutors. The slaying was "particularly vicious," prosecutors said.

Officers went to the apartment after Aquino walked in the Pearl City police station 4 a.m. Saturday and told police that he killed his girlfriend.

Aquino then led officers to Dumaslan's apartment, where her body was found lying in the kitchen.

Aquino was arrested without incident at the apartment at 4:50 a.m., the document states.

Dumaslan was pronounced dead at 4:53 a.m.

Dumaslan had obtained a temporary restraining order against Aquino in 2004, which was dissolved at her request in 2005, the document said.
