Phone outage hits Lahaina
Associated Press
Hawaiian Telcom informed police that phone service was cut off at 11:30 a.m. and no one could call in or out of Lahaina, but internal callers with 661 and 667 prefixes were able to call one another.
Hawaiian TelCom crews worked on the problem, which was caused by an accidentally cut fiber optic line, officials said.
Police reported that some cellular telephone service was operating in Lahaina.
