Grand jury indicts man on murder charge

Advertiser Staff

A 39-year-old man was indicted by the O'ahu grand jury today on a murder charge of stabbing his girlfriend at her Pearl City home early Saturday morning.

Ronante Aquino is accused of stabbing Zenaida Dumaslan, 39, whose body was found in the kitchen of her Hooli Circle apartment.

He was indicted on the second-degree murder charge which carries a mandatory life term with parole.

Aquino, who is being held on $150,000 bail, was arrested after he went to the Pearl City police station at about 4 a.m. Saturday and said he had killed his girlfriend, according to police.

In asking for the $150,000 bail, city prosecutors said Aquino, a yard man, was intoxicated and the murder was "particularly vicious."

The indictment sends the case to trial.
