Police Beat: Man attacked, beaten in game room

Police are looking for two men in their 30s who allegedly attacked another man at a Punchbowl-area game room last night.The 43-year-old man who filed a complaint with police told them two strangers approached him about 11:45 p.m. inside the game room near the corner of Alapai and Kinau streets. He said one of the men beat him with a baton, the second man stabbed him with a knife and the two men ran from the game room after the incident.
No arrests had been made as of this morning in the case , which was classified by police as an attempted murder.
The man who reported the incident was taken to The Queen's Medical Center, where he was treated for his injuries and released.
Man accused of shoplifting statue
A 52-year-old man was arrested in Waikuikui late yesterday afternoon after he allegedly grabbed a 3-foot-tall, hand-carved statue from a store and tried to run off with it.
Police said a store employee chased the man for two blocks, recovered the statue and called police.
Police arrived and arrested the suspect on suspicion of second-degree theft. They said the statue had a retail value of $750.
Punch leads to arrest
A 32-year-old Waipahu man was arrested yesterday for allegedly punching out a 36-year-old man in Waipahu on June 10.
Police said the older man refused medical treatment at the scene at the time the incident was reported.
They said he later drove himself to the hospital, where he was treated for a broken nose.
Police said the man who reported the incident, as well as a witness, later identified a suspect who was arrested on suspicion of second-degree assault.
Domestic assault reported
A 53-year-old man was arrested yesterday in connection with an incident Sunday night in which he allegedly struck a 47-year-old woman companion during a domestic argument, causing her to fall and suffer a deep cut to her head.
Police were called to Kalihi about 7:40 p.m. and arrested the suspect Monday on suspicion of second-degree assault.
Man punched sitting in car
Police arrested a 21-year-old man yesterday after a 22-year-old man reported being punched in the face about 2:30 a.m.
The man who filed the complaint said he was sitting in his own car after stopping for a traffic light in the central Honolulu area when the other man, who was on foot, walked up to the side of his car and challenged him to fight.
The man who filed the report said he refused to fight, at which point the other man reached into the car and punched him anyway.
Police were called to the area, located a suspect and arrested him on suspicion of unlawful entry into a motor vehicle, a felony.
Store manager reports attack
Police yesterday arrested a 46-year-old man after he allegedly threatened to harm the assistant manager at a Honolulu store late Sunday night.
The assistant manager, 31, told police she was trying to stop the man, whom she believed was trying to steal something from the store.
She said the man pulled out a knife and threatened to stab her before running out of the store.
Police said the man was found later in the store's parking garage, was identified by the assistant manager and was arrested on suspicion of first-degree terroristic threatening.
