1,500 hotel workers rally for new contract

An estimated 1,500 hotel workers and sympathizers of UNITE HERE Local 5 staged a rally around the Hilton Hawaiian Village Beach Resort & Spa beginning at 3:30 p.m. today to send a message that they want good contract negotiations.

Officials with the council that represents hotel management said they would have a comment later tonight.

Members of the crowd carried signs and banners around the hotel property as others blew conch shells and led the group toward the beach.
