Termites were ravaging shelves and documents at the State Archives, the July 26, 1935, Advertiser reported.

1904: The Waipahu sugar workers strike ends.

1905: The Pacific Commercial Advertiser reports that the Episcopal diocese has completed arrangements for the purchase of the Robertson property adjoining Emma Square on the Waikiki side. The paper reported that extensive improvements are contemplated, including rebuilding The Priory school, which at the time occupied the original buildings consecrated by Bishop Staley.

1910: The voters of Hawai'i overwhelmingly oppose a prohibition law in the territory.

1912: Parker Ranch heiress Thelma Parker is married to Robert Henry Gilliard Smart in the Parker Ranch house.

1934: President Roosevelt views Kilauea crater. He then travels to O'ahu and is greeted by thousands. He is given honors by members of the Daughters and Sons of Hawaiian Warriors and the Order of Kamehameha in a ceremony at Washington Place.

1957: President Eisenhower nominates William Quinn, 38, as 12th territorial governor of Hawai'i.

1969: The Apollo 11 astronauts arrive at Pearl Harbor after splashing down in the Pacific at the end of their historic lunar mission.
