Hawai'i, led by Chan Kim's 4-under-par 69, held a one-shot lead entering today's final round of the Junior America's Cup team competition at Ogden Golf and Country Club in Utah.

The Hawai'i team shot a 211 in yesterday's second round and was at 425. Utah, the first-day leader, shot a 217 and was at 426. Oregon (211) and Southern California (209) shared third at 427. San Diego (214) was at 428.

Kim is the state high school champion from Kaimuki. Ho-nolulu's Sean Maekawa of Pa'auilo, Hawai'i, and T.J. Kua of Lihu'e, Kaua'i, shot 71s and Alex Ching shot a 78.

The top three scores count toward the team score.

Fourteen teams from the United States, Canada and Mexico are entered.

GIRLS JR. AMERICA'S CUP

Hawai'i's girls trail Southern California by 10 strokes entering today's final round of the Jr. America's Cup team competition at Oro Valley Country Club in Arizona.

Southern California shot a 222 yesterday for a 443 total. Northern California (232) was second at 452, followed by Hawai'i (223) at 453.

Miki Ueoka of Lihu'e, Kaua'i, and Kristina Merkle of Honolulu each shot 73. Katie Sisler of Honolulu shot a 77 and Kaitlen Miyajima of Wailuku, Maui, a 79. The best three scores count toward the team score.

BETSY RAWLS GIRLS

Stephanie Kono of Honolulu shot a par 71 and is four strokes behind the leaders at the McDonald's Betsy Rawls Girls Championships at Malvern, Pa.

First-round leaders Lisa McCloskey, Vicky Hurst and Marika Lendl each shot 71 and remained tied for the lead after the second round at 141 at the White Manor Country Club.

Cydney Clanton (67) and Kristina Wong (71) are tied at 142 and Stacey Kim (71) is at 143.

Elyse Okada of Kahului, Maui, was tied for 36th after a 72—153, and former Hilo resident Kimberly Kim was tied for 55th with 80—157.

The tournament, conducted by the American Junior Golf Association, concludes tomorrow.

HP BOYS JUNIOR

Honolulu's Tadd Fujikawa shot a 4-over-par 76 yesterday and was tied for 20th at the HP Boys Junior Championship in Orlando, Fla.

Andrew Yun of Tacoma, Wash., shot 69 and Kyle Stanley of Gig Harbor, Wash., shot 74 to share the lead at 4-under 140. Fujikawa, a Moanalua High student, was at 147 after two rounds at the Arnold Palmer's Bay Hill Club & Lodge course.

Peter Uihlein of Bradenton, Fla., was in third with 70—142.

Forty-nine of the 83 golfers made the 150 cut at the tournament conducted by American Junior Golf Association tournament.
