The Waialua Band gave a special concert at the Haleiwa Hotel in honor of Gov. and Mrs. Carter, the July 30, 1906, Pacific Commercial Advertiser reported.

1889: Robert Wilcox leads a brief and unsuccessful revolt against the Reform Government. Seven rebels are killed and a dozen wounded.

1953: The Pacific Commercial Advertiser reports that a Hawai'i branch of the American Civil Liberties Union has been formed.
