Man allegedly assaults girlfriend with bottle opener

A 35-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of second-degree assault after his 42-year-old girlfriend reported he cut her stomach with a bottle opener when an argument escalated in a hotel room in Waikiki.The victim left the hotel and checked into a hospital after receiving a four-inch laceration on her stomach. Pearl City police were notified about the incident after the victim went to the hospital, police said.
The suspect remains in jail pending investigation. The suspect is in the U.S. Army.
The incident happened on Koa Avenue at 5 p.m. yesterday.
