Who knew you could do so much with an empty jelly jar? Michelle Jones of Living a Better Life: The Free Money Saving Tips Ezine (betterbudgeting.com) shares her ideas:

  • Remove labels and use for gifts, placing a pretty piece of fabric on top and tying with a ribbon.

  • Store cotton balls or swabs in the bathroom, sewing notions, crafts or hardware.

  • Reuse as a pencil holder.

  • Create a candy jar.

    SAVE THE PLANET

    FARM SOME WORMS

These worms may look icky and sticky, but they can do a lot for our environment. Learn how worms recycle paper and food waste into compost. The workshop is at 9:30 a.m. Saturday at Manoa Gardens Elderly Housing Community Center, 2790 Kahaloa Drive. The cost is $30, which covers materials including a mini bin, starter worm colony and manual. To register: 382-0432 or waikikiworm@hawaii.rr.com.

    FINAL WORD

"It's crazy. We don't have time to get our work done because of all the work we have to do."
