Snorkeler dies at Waimanalo

Advertiser Staff

A 65-year-old man was pronounced dead at Castle Medical Center today after beachgoers at Waimanalo Beach Park pulled him from the ocean.

Bryan Cheplic, spokesman for Emergency Medical Services, said the man had apparently been snorkeling offshore of a camping area.

Bystanders found him shortly after 1 p.m. and notified lifeguards.

EMS paramedics were called and took the man to Castle, where he was pronounced dead.

No further information was available about the man's identity or cause of death.
