  • CHARLES NAKAMA, manager of City Mill Company, Ltd.'s Pearl City store, has been selected as one of six honorees for the 2006 Young Retailers of the Year, an industrywide award sponsored by the North American Retail Hardware Association. His selection was based upon his personal and professional activities and his potential for even greater contributions to the industry as he continues his career.

  • FRANKLIN KUDO and JOHN UEKAWA have received Nissan North America's Circle of Excellence Award. Kudo is the CEO and Uekawa is president of New City Nissan. The honor goes to top volume dealerships that also excel in customer satisfaction. Only four percent of all Nissan dealerships met the criteria for the award.

  • The Fairmont Kea Lani on Maui, the Four Seasons Hualalai on the Big Island and the Halekulani in Honolulu are among the winners of the 2006 World's Best Hotel Awards from travel Web site Luxury Link.

  • The Hawaii Remodelors Council of the Building Industry Association-Hawaii has won the CADRE Award (Council Awards for Demonstrating Remodeling Excellence) from the National Association of Home Builders Remodelors Council. The CADRE Award is the highest national award that a local remodelors council can achieve. It was presented at the Remodel It Right Expo.

  • McDonald's Corp. has selected 'Ewa Beach restaurant manager Richard Quiamzon as one of 140 managers nationwide to receive its Ray Kroc Award for 2005. The award is given to managers who deliver superior results in selected performance areas.

  • Rob and Cindy Pacheco, owners of Hawai'i Forest and Trail in Kailua, Kona, are the recipients of the 2006 Ecotour Operator of the Year Award from the Hawaii Ecotourism Association. A pioneer in the field, the company features small nature tours tailored to visitors, school groups and local residents.

  • Mike Moynahan, owner of Kama'aina Clubmakers in Kula, Maui, was recently given the Distinguished Clubmaker Award at the annual PCS International Symposium and Expo in Louisville, Ky. PCS is the largest independent society of professional golf-club makers in the world and conducts the most extensive certification process in the industry.
