Advertiser Staff

An observance honoring Kamehameha the Great will take place at a "formal watch" at 10:45 a.m. Sunday at the Kamehameha statue in front of Ali'iolani Hale, the Hawai'i Supreme Court building on South King Street.

The event is sponsored by the Daughters and Sons of Hawaiian Warriors, Mamakakaua.

The event, held annually on Kamehameha Day, will include song, chants and prayers.

Hawaiian societies and lodges will attend the event in full regalia. The guest speaker will be Hawaiian historian Richard Paglinawan.
