Track for the Grove Farm railroad is being extended on Kaua'i, the June 8, 1908, Pacific Commercial Advertiser reported.

1944: Two Army B-25s collide over Kalihi. The crash kills 11 civilians and four soldiers, and 10 homes are destroyed or damaged.

1955: Federal agents and police raid the biggest 'okolehao distillery in operation on O'ahu since Prohibition. The still was running full blast in an old poi mill near Kane'ohe, The Advertiser reported.

1963: President Kennedy arrives in Honolulu to a tumultuous welcome. Thousands of people thronged the airport to see him. Kennedy was in Hawai'i to address the National Conference of Mayors.
