Best surf on south shores today

Advertiser Staff

The best surf on O'ahu today will be found along south-facing shores where wave faces are expected to be running in the 3- to 4-foot range.

The National Weather Service forecast calls for surf of 1 to 3 feet along west and east shorelines.

The north-facing shores will see waves of 2 feet or less throughout the morning, increasing this afternoon to 2 to 4 feet.

A fresh swell from the south will peak today and be replaced by a slightly larger swell due in as early as Sunday night. That swell should peak Monday night and be replaced by an even more significant swell on Wednesday.

Also in the forecast is a series of unseasonable northwest swells, expected to reach the north and west facing shores during the next few days. The first of two will be small, slated to be here this afternoon. It will be followed by a more moderate size swell Sunday night, maxing out Monday.
