Medical Examiner IDs moped rider killed in collision

Advertiser Staff

The city Department of the Medical Examiner has identified Juan P. Carvallo, 27, of Haleiwa, as the moped rider who killed Wednesday night after being struck by a car.

Carvallo was riding along Kamehameha Highway toward Wahiawa, near a road that leads to the Helemano military housing area, at about 11:20 p.m. when he was reportedly hit from behind. A Windward O'ahu man who police believe was driving the car that struck Carvallo was arrested on suspicion of negligent homicide and fleeing the scene of an accident.
