North Shore swim series opener June 24

 •  Practice helps a woman's fitness during pregnancy

The annual Surf & Sea North Shore Swim Series begins with the Raging Isle Summer Sprint, June 24, at Sunset Beach.

Entry deadline for the 1-mile race is June 16.

The four-race series also includes:

  • Surf &Sea Cup, July 8, 1.2 miles, Puaena Point Triangle Swim near Hale'iwa Beach Park.

  • Cholos' Waimea 2000, July 22, 2,000 meters, Waimea Bay.

  • North Shore Challenge, Aug. 5, 2.4 miles, 'Ehukai Beach Park to Waimea Bay.

    Entry fee for each race is $30. Late entry fee and day of the race is $35.

    Applications are available at Surf & Sea, Barnfield's Raging Isle, Cholos', Boca Hawai'i, Island Swim 'n' Gear and Bikefactory and online at www.active.com. For details, call 372-8885.

    POLO

    TWO CLUBS HOLD GAMES

    Honolulu Polo Club will hold its opening day of the season at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at Waimanalo Polo Field on Kalaniana'ole Highway.

    Gates open at 1 p.m. General admission is $3 with children under 12 free.

    Activities include a polo pony parade.

    The Hawai'i Polo Club, which holds matches every Sunday at Mokule'ia Polo Fields, is having its second annual Father's Day Brunch Barbecue on June 18. Cost is $25; reservations are required. Call 637-8401.

    Weekly matches begin at 2 p.m. with gates opening at 11 a.m. Admission is $7. This Sunday's match features Hawai'i Polo Inn and Team Bacardi.

    OFFICIALS SOUGHT

    The O'ahu Interscholastic Association is looking for new and experienced football officials.

    Those interested can attend a meeting for new officials 7 p.m. June 19 at Pearl Ridge Elementary School cafeteria on Moanalua Road.
