1877: Kapi'olani Park is formally opened.
1906: The Kohala Ditch is opened.
1925: A triumphal procession of 250 automobiles formally opens the Kailua-Ke'anae section of the Maui belt road, with Gov. Wallace Rider Farrington in the lead car.
1928: The Daughters of Hawaii dedicate the restored Hulihe'e palace at Kailua, North Kona.
1955: The Princess Kaiulani Hotel, built by Matson Navigation Co., opens.
1989: Eleven people are killed when a sightseeing plane crashes into a steep cliff in Waimanu Valley on the Big Island.
1998: Hawai'i's $350 million Convention Center officially opens.
