Tuesday morning commute moving smoothly

By David Waite

Traffic is moving well at this hour for the first day of the work week for many O'ahu commuters who are coming off a three-day weekend.

There are no major accidents or incidents at this time affecting townbound traffic.

This morning's trouble spot seems to be a stretch of westbound Lunalilo Freeway in downtown Honolulu where a pair of collisions about 6:20 a.m. between the Punchbowl on-ramp and School Street off-ramp slowed things down a bit.

Elsewhere, traffic is moving well through the H-1/H-2 merge, normally a daily bottleneck, but slows considerably at the Middle Street merge, another routine choke point.

There are no problems at this time for drivers heading in from the windward side, and townbound traffic from East O'ahu is rolling right along well past the Punahou Street overpass.
