Police Beat: Gunpoint car-jacking reported in Makiki

A 56-year-old man told police he was robbed at gunpoint yesterday morning in Makiki.

He said he was standing beside his rental car about 8 a.m. when a stranger approached, drew a gun and demanded his personal property.

The man told police after he complied with the demands the robber punched him, causing him to fall to the ground.

He said the robber and a woman then got into the rental car and drove away.

No arrests had been made in the case as of this morning.

Police investigating car fire

Police opened a criminal property damage investigation yesterday after the interior of a car parked in a garage in Wahiawa was set afire.

Police said firefighters extinguished the 5 a.m. blaze, which caused a minor damage to the house attached to the garage.

There were no injuries. No arrests were made as of early this morning in the case.
