TONIGHT'S MUST-SEE

"Last Comic Standing," 8 p.m., NBC. Here's the second half of the semifinals, which got off to a strong start last week. We saw 20 stand-up comics — most of them with great material. Five were chosen to live on the Queen Mary ship as they compete for the top spot. Tonight, we get 20 more comics, competing for the other five spots.

"Rescue Me," 7 p.m., FX. This fascinating show exists in its own, odd world. Last week, Tommy (Denis Leary) realized that his estranged wife and brother were sleeping together. He beat his brother savagely. Only in "Rescue Me" would this go unpunished. Tonight, life goes on in a light, low-key hour.

OF NOTE

"Kathy Griffin: My Life on the D-List," 5 and 6 p.m., Bravo. First is a rerun of last week's season-opener in which Griffin auctioned a sleepover at her house for charity. Then is a new hour with the winning bidder.

"Fear Factor" return, 7 p.m., NBC. This show's return last week was delayed. Now it starts a three-way battle between people from other reality shows: "American Idol," "Survivor," "The Amazing Race," "The Apprentice" and "The Real World."

"House," 7 and 8 p.m., Fox. The first rerun has Cuddy's handyman getting worse, not better, at the hospital. The second, one of the show's most cynical, has Dr. House grumbling about a doctor he's treating.

"Queer Eye for the Straight Guy," 7 p.m., Bravo. An engaged couple planned to marry in the East, but couldn't resolve their families' religious disagreements. Now the guys plan a Las Vegas wedding for them.

"The Tuesday Night Book Club," 9 p.m., CBS. Imagine "Desperate Housewives" as a reality show. This series focuses on seven Arizona women who seemingly have it all — good looks, money, marriages (in most cases) and beautiful homes. Naturally, they also have problems.

"Independent Lens: The Real Dirt on Farmer John," 10 p.m., PBS. A documentary that has already played in some art houses.
