David Helvarg, an activist on behalf of the ocean environment and author of "50 Ways to Save the Ocean," speaks at 6 tonight at the Kamakakuokalani Center for Hawaiian Studies, addressing how each person can help with protection and restoration of the seas, beginning with individual action as a consumer and citizen.

Helvarg, president of the Blue Frontier Campaign, argues that it's not too late to make a difference and to give something back to the ocean, which is a primary source of life on this planet, despite the serious threats facing our seas. His talk is sponsored by environmental alliance Kahea and the Center for Hawaiian Studies.
