Summer break is beginning, The Advertiser told schoolchildren on June 15, 1923.

1928: Clifford Kimball purchases Grey's Hotel, which is on the Diamond Head side of Kimball's Halekulani Hotel. Purchasing the Grey property gave Kimball beach frontage of 400 feet.

1941: The Army announces it will build a $750,000 bomb shelter and food storage tunnel at Fort Shafter. It was to be capable of holding several thousand people.

2004: The University of Hawai'i Board of Regents fires UH President Evan Dobelle. The board said "Dobelle no longer has our trust and there is no longer a unity of purpose between the board and the president. ..."
