Even during her down time, teen golfer Michelle Wie gets recognition.

The 16-year-old ranks No. 74 in the Forbes' 35th annual list of World's 100 Most Powerful Celebrities.

Wie, who completed a hectic week last week by playing 36 holes in a U.S. Open Sectional and then 72 holes in the LPGA Championship, is the youngest member of the Celebrity 100.

The highest-ranking sports person is Tiger Woods, who ranks No. 5. The only female athlete ranked higher than Wie is tennis star Maria Sharapova, who is No. 63. The top three overall are Tom Cruise, the Rolling Stones and Oprah Winfrey.

Woods, who has been in the top five for the past five years, once again is ranked fifth, making $90 million over the last year, mostly from endorsements (although with $58 million in career earnings, Woods has made 25 percent more from actually playing golf than any golfer in history).

According to www.Forbes.com, generating headlines and a fat paycheck weren't enough to solidify your standing on the list. Instead, it was a combination of earnings and sizzle.

To generate the list Forbes.com used a combination of factors including income, Web references as calculated by Google, press clips as compiled by Lexis/Nexis, TV/radio mentions from Factiva and the number of times a celebrity's face has appeared on the cover of 26 major consumer magazines. Earnings estimates are for June 2005 to June 2006 and are dollars earned solely from entertainment income. Management, agent and attorney fees have not been deducted.

Wie's next appearance on the golf course will be June 29, when she competes in the U.S. Women's Open in Rhode Island. She'll play in the HSBC Women's World Match Play Championships in New Jersey the following week and the John Deere Classic (a PGA event) in Illinois after that.
