HAWAI'I BRIEFS
Moanalua water cut to 32 houses

Advertiser Staff

An early-morning water main break in Moanalua damaged one home and cut off water service to 32 houses yesterday.

The break occurred just before 6 a.m. at 1457 Haku Street, said Su Shin, spokeswoman for the Board of Water Supply.

Water from the 8-inch cast-iron pipe broke through the street and through the picture window of a nearby home, flooding it and littering it with gravel and asphalt, Shin said.

Workers supplied a water wagon for residents and put a spigot on a fire hydrant until service was restored at 2:30 p.m., she said.

The broken part of the main was cut out and replaced.

Traffic on the street was limited to local residents, and road repairs were expected to be completed last night.
