Maui Divers Jewelry has arranged to sell its merchandise in the Caribbean and Bahamas through duty-free retailer Colombian Emeralds International under a partnership that also will involve Maui Divers operating Colombian Emeralds stores in Hawai'i.

Maui Divers said it plans to open its first Colombian Emeralds store on Friday at Anchor Cove Shopping Center on Kaua'i.

The local jewelry retailer and manufacturer said it hopes it can open 15 to 20 more Colombian Emeralds stores in Hawai'i.

Bob Taylor, president & CEO of Maui Divers Jewelry, said the two companies formed a partnership to take advantage of complementary products and services in different tourist markets.

Colombian Emeralds International is a retail division of Dutyfree Holdings Inc., which operates 60 luxury duty-free stores throughout the Caribbean and Bahamas.

Maui Divers owns and operates 53 stores, including some under the names Island Pearls and Pick-A-Pearl in Hawai'i, California, Nevada and Florida.
