Intercept missile test a success

Advertiser Staff

The Missile Defense Agency announced it conducted a successful test today in which an interceptor missile fired from a Navy ship hit a ballistic missile whose warhead had separated from the booster rocket.

The test was conducted at noon today off Kaua'i.

Air Force Lt. Gen. Henry "Trey" Obering, director of the Missile Defense Agency, said the interceptor was fired from the Navy ship USS Shiloh.

It was the seventh successful intercept of eight attempts in the sea-based ballistic missile intercept program.
