Advertiser Staff

Maui's Beth Arnoult-Ritthaler lost in the final of the Orlen Polish Open, earlier this month in Plock. The event is part of the NEC Wheelchair Tennis Tour and was the first of four she is planning to play in Europe.

Arnoult, the only non-European in the women's draw, was seeded second. She had a bye in the first round and swept her opponents in the next two rounds. She lost to top-seeded Agnieszka Bartczak, from Poland, 6-4, 6-1, in the final. Arnoult led the first set, 4-3.

The singles finalists teamed to win the round-robin doubles title, taking all three matches in straight sets.

Arnoult lost to top seed Sharon Walraven, of the Netherlands, 6-1, 6-1, in the first round of the Slovakia Open in Bratislava last week. Walraven went on to win the title.
